Would you go out on your own?

    That is a great point that I often take for granted when I talk about these kind of things. My experience is much like what Guro Mike just said. I teach Pekiti Tirsia that was taught to me by Tuhon Bill McGrath. But I do not teach it exactly as he does (I don't have the same jokes or taste in training music :)). I teach it my own way with my own take on the material and how it can be applied beyond the standard and basic ideas.... The same can be said for the styles of Pentjak Silat and Kuntao that I teach. I just consider that to be what "should" be done - and not necesarily as going out on my own...
