I have read the article and it made me wonder when a pill or shot will come on the market to stop these proteins from being produced so you didn't feel pain. They could also change the proteins to make you aware of the sensation but not feel the pain. It could really change the dynamic of MA and warfare. Imagine a war where nobody feels pain, it would be pretty scary.

It's a mixed bag--the pain can be a useful warning that you're about to be hurt more.

    An interesting article and study.
I'd be interested in seeing follow up studies by different reserchers

Yikes. I can imagine taking that pill/shot and being wide awake in surgery. Oh doctor your knife blade tickles! Can you see my appendix yet?

People that cannot feel pain don't have a very good prognosis in life, sorry to say...
