First of all, I would like to thank everyone who participated in my tournament in April. I think everyone performed well, followed all of the rules, as well as displaying great sportsmanship and camaraderie. I must apologize for not responding earlier, but I went on tour in the Philippines shortly after the tournament and most of my free time was spent packing and making travel arrangements.

For those who are unaware of this, I am the director of Team USA and the host of the Can Am Border Battle II. The Can Am Border Battle is named for the region being near the American-Canadian border. We had several international teams participated in last year’s event. The divisions were weapon and hand forms, point karate fighting as well as stick fighting. This year I have been asked to add grappling division to our border battle.

On Sunday, June 28th, I will be hosting the US team trials for grappling. The location will be at Horizon Martial Arts again and we will be using the same rules as before. The divisions will be gi and no gi, and will be divided by weight and gender. There are no belt divisions in this competition. We are trying to find the best competitors, no matter what belt level. Fort hose who have any questions about this event, feel free to contact me at Horizon Martial Arts 716-675-0899 or
