    With all due respect,
My question is when Filipino martial arts started using rattan to simulate a blade. Why did the arts change to more of a stick fighting art more so than the original intent.
I may be way off base.
Not creating a argument in any way.
Feedback and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thank you

From what I've learn both sticks and blades have always been a part of Filipino martial arts....rattan is for safe training....hardwood sticks and blades for killing and fighting
