Another old post but I'm going to respond like it's new. I agree with you Bill.I chopped sugar cane for about 20 minutes,and after being corrected by the expert choppers, I was chopping a lot better,but not nearly as well as the Philippinos.I also chopped,stacked,and carried rice for an entire afternoon.You have to grab and hold while you chop.Those Philippinos use the Matchete like I could use a airless spray gun;having sprayed thousands of gallons of paint will no preference to what what hand I used. It also takes some getting used to seeing men with machetes all over the place during Sugar cane harvest. Sometimes you see a newspaper headline that reads,'Chop Chop at _ location'.
