  1. Will be interesting.

Glad the death toll was relatively low (10 or so) during the elections :(

Can't work our how ex-president Joseph Estrada finished 2nd after being found guilty of corruption and gambling:

    Edsa 2001 Protest against Estrada.

Guy sounds like an evil Bill Clinton.

    Yet he finished 2nd???!!!!

No matter how long I live here in the Philippines I don't think I will ever understand it. Feel free to help me out!

I saw the death reports and I confess my thought was also that this was probably better than expected, despite how unnecessary it was. Dying to vote...very different from here in the U.S., where you don't have the violence but also don't have people that driven to exercise tehir rights that they go out in good numbers despite any inconveniences.

Thousand? Wow, that's a big fire.

  15. Not really...

Like the article mentions the houses were probably "Slum" which equates to lots of wood shacks with tarpaulin huddled together (not quite as bad as the photos I've seen from Rio though!) and the average family size here is 6 I believe. It was lucky the blaze was "pre-dawn" as the engines would have to battle the absolute horror that is Manila traffic getting to it....Glad no one lost their life though.
