Much appreciation to GM Ty and all the volunteers. Well coordinated tournament as a whole, my comments earlier were for the growth of fma and to make things smoother in the future.

Peregrine, when we last spoke you mentioned that you couldnt find your helmet as well, were you able to find it?

No, i accidently left it at the tourament. With the power outage, it made it REALLY difficult to get to my car and at that time i usually would have double checked my gear, but i was exhausted, hungry and it was dark.

    I pmd Greg808 about it.

Yeah I know what you mean, when I left I almost tripped a couple of times on the way back to car, lol.

Sorry that this is a bit late.... but here are some clips.

Grand Master Tyrone Takahashi of the Pedoy School of Escrima opening speech for the Pacific Island Showdown. GM Ty put on the event and kept the event going with generators despite Hawaii's Earthquake of 2006 which left most of the state out of power for most of the day and evening. GM Ty explains his hopes to make the art of Escrima flourish in the state of Hawai'i.

Clips of Sara and Siana from the Pedoy School of Escrima, dont let the smooth moves and their pretty faces fool you these girls put on a great fight during the Solo Baston portion of the tournament

    Double stick carrenza

Impromptu Demo by GM Mike Del Mar at the Pacific Island Showdown.

David S. displays his skills and creativity with his Balisong carrenza at the Pacific Island Showdown.

Sandra from the Pedoy School of Escrima performing her carrenza at the tournament.

A very young Eskrima student from the Pedoy School of Escrima performing a carrenza in the Pacific Island Showdown

There is more to come and I have a couple more carrenza clips to upload. Hopefully no one will get offended that I recorded this off the public access channel, my only agenda is to promote the FMA in Hawaii.

Thanks! The last one was very cute. Did he say his age? I couldn't make out all of what he said when he spoke before performing.

Im sure he did, but I couldnt understand what he was saying either. Maybe Greg808 or Ares will reply, they are both with the Pedoy School of Escrima.

    Any vids of the fighting?

Pretty soon Datu Hartman. I do have some clips of the little guys fighting Ill upload those tonight. They decided to show the event in 3 seperate segments, probably because they (Olelo) didn't have a 3 hour time slot to fit everything in. So Im pretty sure that on the next segment there will be some older children fighting and probably in the last segment we will see the live stick fights.

I don't think there is any live stick coverage on the tournament. Remember the earthquake the Olelo guy couldn't get in the studio since there was no light thus no camera. Although I may be wrong since Grandmaster Ty gave another fighter permission to record the second day of fighting on his video camera... I must say the editing and music from Olelo is poor.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that... good point.

Well I think they did the best they could, the camerawork wasnt that great, and without good footage the editor can only do so much. One camera person was trying to stay in close and follow the person when they should just stay wide to capture all the movement. It's all good, now they know what not to do and can make it better next year.

    Howzit Robert.

Wow your pretty talented with transferring video's. Should have you shooting video at the tournament. Better than the Olelo guy.

I haven't checked these videos yet. They must be really good to watch. Maybe when I get back from sea I'll check them out.

I made copies of that Kali video. It looks okay... I was expecting more out of it. There's this grandmaster that is 82 yrs old that could twirl the stick so fast. You won't believe it when you see it.

I'll see you at the Christmas party... and mention to Sarah that I said, "Hi, and I'll be back soon."

    Howzit Greg,

Well lets just say I have plans for the future =) Although it would be difficult to compete and do camera work but I do have other plans.

So do you guys know if there is a part 2? They have been reshowing Part 1 all month long, lol.

I asked Grandmaster Ty if there would be any live stick coverage and he replied yes. Olelo has footage from another source.
