    15TH ANNUAL PISTAHAN FESTIVAL
    AT YERBA BUENA GARDENS :
    AUG. 9 & 10, 2008
Two Day Festival Highlights Filipino Arts, Culture and Cuisine-

SAN FRANCISCO– The largest parade and festival of Filipino Americans in northern California is bigger than ever and will celebrate its 15th anniversary, featuring Filipino-American cultural exhibits and pavilions showcasing heritage, health, dance, music, arts and cuisine. The two-day event is expected to draw over 50,000 people. There are over 400,000 Filipino-Americans in the Bay Area, the second largest Asian American group in northern California.

The Pistahan Parade kicks off the festival featuring beautiful themed floats, dance troupes, bands and lively contingents. Opening ceremonies begin at 10am on Beale Street, followed by the colorful parade at 11am which starts at Beale Street, marches down Market Street, left on 4th Street, left on Folsom Street and ends at 3rd Street. A special judging area for Best Choreography, Best Costume, Best Spectacle and Best Spirit is located on Market and New Montgomery. This year’s Grand Marshals are Broadway actors Adam Jacobs and Kelly Kohnert Jacobs, and Disney’s High School Musical actor Arielle Jacobs also joins the parade. All three will be performing on stage at the Pistahan Festival at the Yerba Buena Gardens. Dan and Sunny Dykwel will serve as the Hermano and Hermana Mayor, the ceremonial hosts of the festival.

The Pistahan Festival features world class performances by Anthony Castelo, Stephanie Reese, Charmaine Clamor, DJ Rocky Rock, Mango Kings, PAC Modern, Aris Garcia, Tracy Sarmiento, Lumaya, Hiyas Cultural Dance Troupe, Likha Pilipino Folk Ensemble, Parangal Dance Company, and more. This year, a new attraction will be the San Francisco Filipino-American jazz festival.
