    A 'De-Disneyfied' Wonderland

The heroine is a martial-arts instructor trying to rescue her boyfriend

A review elsewhere in the paper wasn't very upbeat about the miniseries.

Taylor Lautner did some martial arts stuff on Saturday Night Live last night--gymnastic martial arts and a quick bo staff spinning demonstration, then he attacked a Kanye West dummy (he's dating Taylor Swift). It looks like he twice failed to kick the dummy's head off, then ended up backfisting it off so the bit could continue.

Japanese Women Wrestlers develop 10 moves a year.
Japanese Male Wrestlers adopt 7 of those, the other 3 are too brutal.
Mexican Wrestlers snag 4 of those 7.
US Wrestlers whimper in fear that they'll run into the Japanese women.

I do wonder if tasers have started to be used too freely, as though they were a completely benign way to resolve a situation...some backward motion on that matter may be needed.

The "Man-Catcher" returns as a self-defense tool for Chinese schools.

Execution does not stop Chinese knife attacks

    1..jpg

This appears to be the man-catcher used by the Japanese to round up rogue samurai in the late 1800s (and of course used by others elsewhere). What's old is new again--even in these days of firearms, we're seeing knife and hammer attacks and the suggested use of an archaic weapon in response.
