I have studied fma before for 6 months at an mma school recognized by Dan Inosanto. It was just too far to commute (1.5 hours sometimes with traffic) to keep going regularly. I'm looking for a school near me in Baltimore, MD. I have found one and they present 30 years of credentials. I was wondering if anyone here has heard of them and should I make the first step and come out for workout and see what's going on.

    this is their website:

You might want to try Mr Carlos Patalinghug at kick connections ( http://www.kickconnection.com/eskrima.html ). I would go, but for me its too far, and so is the school you linked. I actualy went to kick connection for a month or two, and would recomend it to anyone. Great school, great people and superior instruction, wish I had the time to go.

I don't know anything about the school you linked, but would offer this as an option if you didn't know about it before.

The myspace link is Apolo Ladra and his brother Bobby in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Both very passionate about and skilled at Pekiti Tirsia. HIghly recommended.

They've got three videos.. still not enough to pull me from my pc to enroll and train with them. No disrespect intended.

thanks for the help, I looked into the ladro brothers and kickconnection but they are both too far. You see in this area rush hour is a pain to get around. to drive 20 miles can sometimes take 1.5 hours and usually classes are held in the evening around 7p when rush hour is all over the place. I don't want to be in another situation when the traffic overwhelms my desire to get to training.

I understand completely, see my thread on looking for a school in the same general area as you ( http://www.fmatalk.com/showthread.php?t=4933 ).

It seems as if its more than 15-20 min drive it will just be too far no matter the level of instruction. If you happen to find anything north of baltimore city (im near bel-air) let me know. I am going to have to settle for video tapes for now, at least I will make some progress.

I trained for years with the Patalinghugs at the Kick Connection. I'd say they're a very good bet. I trained in taekwondo with the Ladras before they got into teaching FMA. Good teachers also. Either one would be a good move. Traffic be damned.
