Yeah, that was...frightening. It felt so very real.
Not the best knife fights in cinema, but there was the Jim Bowie TV show.
If you have a lot of time to kill, I actually made a semi humorous web page on the series. I'd like to get the entire DVD series one of these days.
If you really have time to kill, I also made a small page on Steven Seagal's Korean movie "Clementine". The link is on the JBT page.
Speaking of Jim Bowie, The Version that was made called "The Iron Mistress" had several good knife fights in it.. It started with the blacked out bar room fight where he fought a swordwielder and won, then progressed to the Vandalla sand bar.. It also showed the Bowie Knife's final resting place at the bottom of the Mississippi river where he had gone to finalize all his business on the eastern side of the Mississippi prior to moving back to Texas. Hard to find movie, but if you find it, it is well worth putting on a dvd for prosterity and viewing
The Iron Mistress movie is shown on British from time to time. Good movie.

If you can't wait for it to come to dvd watch the entire film on tudou.com (no subtitles thougg).
If you like obscure movies
The Dangerous with Robert Davis has FMA and JMA blade work in it.
Club Vampire has the 6 ct. knife dexterity drill (from J.Keating's videos) in it.
The Major Dundee DVD has a deleted scene ('Knife Fight') where James Coburn as a 1 armed scout engages in a knife fight.
Also the scene from The Mgnificent Seven...James Coburn sticking the gunman in pistol vs shiv scene. Also Sweeney Todd....not knives persay but hey a big ole straight razor will do the trick...just gotta get by all that dang singing in the movie..LOL
It sure drove me nuts...
I gotta go with Saving Private Ryan. Fear, brutality, detachment and exhaustion after extreme violence. Dunno, it was kind of intense in a "beyond film" kinda way.
I rewatched a classic the other night ..The Guns of Navarone...there is a few good knife scenes in the flick...mostly sneaking up and ambushing (the way it should be done)..definitely a good flick to check out.
There is also this film with Anthony de Longis that features some great knife fighting scenes with female opponents, sort of a Spanish school stuff, but I just cannot remember the title!
However, check this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96pRiS4f_fg
We all must have too much time on our hands, lol.
Gagimilo, if the show you saw had a female dressed like Zorro, you're probably thinking of "Queen of Swords". DeLongis was one of the choreographers and in the first episode, you can see the Spanish circle. Also in another episode, the Queen uses a knife tapping to defend against a Navaja wielding opponent. The show is hard to get as it was released once in VHS set only, though some people sell DVD bootleg copies via comic book conventions.
If you like unusual weapons scenes, there's
the Polish film "Kontrol" (syringe vs. a large hacksaw),
the French film "Shoot The Piano Player" (broken telephone receiver vs. knife)
"Modesty Blaise" (knife throwing and giving knives to your partner).
If you like hubud lubud, there's "Vault" with Bas Rutten and Diana Inosanto.
Finally saw Taken and yes there's some interesting knife stuff in it!
Yep, that's the one! Thanx for clarifying...
My favorite knife scene was the duel in Michael Jackson's video 'Beat It'. LOL.
Check out the movie . Lost Command..it stars Anthony Quinn...about a French Paratrooper unit which survives Dien Bien Phu. One of the lieutenants, Mahidi who is Algerian decides to lead an uprising in French Algeria. His former Commander (Quin) as Colonel Raspugey is sent into quell the uprising along with all of Mahidis former Commando brethren.
There is a recreation of the true event (Night of the Bayonet)..where the 1st Legion Entrangere (French Foregin Legion) Paratroopers..saught revenge on a village. They took their bayonets and under the cloak of darkness entered the village and knifed all the men.
Also a few knife training and fighting scenes.
A rarely heard of but top notch war flick..and eerily haunting of our situations today.
May not be so difficult to obtain if you know how to use torrents.
