      Hello Mr. Coconis -

My name is Michael Butz and I am a practitioner of Kada Anan Eskrima in North Phoenix. During this year, I was co-involved with holding what has come to be known as the AZ FMA Friendship Gathering. The premise of the event is that instructors from different systems each get about an hour to show whatever he or she wishes, giving the participants an opportunity to experience other styles of the FMA’s. It's sort of part demo, part seminar and part instructional - a chance to see how “they do it”. The event is free for attendees with a request that each contribute a food dish for a potluck lunch that we all share between training. There was a short write-up in FMADigest Vol 5No3 (found here: http://www.fmadigest.com/Issues/past_issues/vol5/Vol5_No3.pdf) and another in the newest mini issue issue if you wish to read more about what were doing.

The first gathering was a joint effort between me (www.ftma-az.com), John Jacobo of Kali Ilustrisimo (www.swacom.com), Pietro Vitelli of Bahala Na (www.bahalanamartialarts.com) and Scott Abbott of Inayan Eskrima (www.blacktigersystem.com). There were about 35 participants and over 50 people who attended the event. The second gathering had Jeff Latorre of Direct Torres Eskrima (www.dteskrima.com), Sam Buot of Balintawak (www.buot.net) and Mike Giron and June Gotico of Bahala Na Multi-Style (www.bahalanamulti-style.com). There were about 50 participants and over 70 people who attended this event. The majority of the participants for both events were students, friends and family of each of our individual groups.

The third Gathering is scheduled for the end of March and we would love to have you be one of the headlining instructors. If you prefer not to show anything, that is fine. Please still accept this as an invitation for you and your entire group to attend. The whole reason we're doing this is to foster the spirit of family and sharing.

Please let me know if you're interested (or not) in being a part of the next Gathering. I'm trying to lock-in the headlining instructors. There are only 4 spots for the event so I will need to know before mid-Dec. Just FYI, your name was mentioned at the first two - we'd love to see you! Feel free to call/email anytime for more details.

      With greatest respect -
      Michael Butz
